Looking to capitalise on the tennis fever, 2:30pm on Sat 12th July will
see the re-launch of 2 hours of free weekly coach led tennis sessions that will be
available year round at Devonport Park in Plymouth. The free weekly sessions have been made possible by a partnership with Plymouth Council, the LTA and the Tennis For Free Charity.
Tennis For Free is a registered charity founded by comedian Tony Hawks. Supported by Sport England and the LTA and with high profile Patrons such as Stephen Fry and Judy Murray, the charity aims to create healthy, vibrant tennis communities on FREE public park tennis courts. The scheme in Plymouth is also supported by a wider coaching programme delivered by John Richards Tennis Programme. Those looking for a private game can turn up to the courts at any time when the courts aren't blocked out for organised group coaching activity.
Tennis For Free’s CEO Paul Jessop commented, "We're looking forward to continue working with Plymouth Council and John Richards Tennis in sparking a new wave of tennis interest into Devonport Park and getting people of all ages partaking in some enjoyable and healthy activity. There's the TFF session each Saturday, additional coaching sessions and times when the courts are free for a casual game – there's something for everyone!!"
Those interested in attending the free sessions will need to sign up at Devonportparktennis.co.uk where more details about the tennis can be found. More information about Tennis For Free visit the charity’s website http://www.tennisforfree.com/
